Visual Communication - Bachelor
"Jaggies" is an up and coming skateboard/streetwear brand that is heavily embedded within early 2000's (y2k) skate culture, PS1-era computer graphics aesthetics and furthermore, the identified uprise of retrofuturism and the greater 'retro wave' movement being popularized in and around the skater and alternative fashion sub-cultures.

To begin this design project, I started by better defining an image for my brand (i.e., providing an image to the name; a logo). This logo would be entirely drafted and refined in Illustrator and later edited in After Effects given its implementation into other design deliverables.
This design project will consist of a 3D/2D-hyrid animation. The background and 2D details will be drafted in Illustrator, 3D shapes animation rendered in Blender, and final post-production edits also rendered in After Effects. The idea of this project is to create a small, looping skateboarding clip that can be transferred via AR in EyeJack onto a physically printed, and accurately sized, skateboard graphic (i.e., an innovative approach to applying motion graphics in the physical world of skateboard design with Jaggies’ new line of signature skateboards.
This goal of this design was to create a 2D motion graphic that can be applied to Jaggies’ new line of streetwear clothing (i.e., a simple design that quickly develops into something much more engaging via the use of AR). Therefore, this design was completed with 2 phases in mind exclusively implementing Illustrator and After Effects. Phase 1 would consist of a simple design (including the brand logo) to be placed on a t-shirt. Secondly, this composition will transition into phase 2 that features kinetic elements and hence, is only visible in digital format.
