Radical

RADICAL is a skatewear brand built on the principle that personal growth is the ultimate form of rebellion. This project develops a brand identity that is accessible, supportive, and vibrant. The outcome is a complete brand world, featuring a custom wordmark inspired by grind rails and a high-energy colour palette, applied across key deliverables including apparel and print magazine spreads.

Brand Identity

The identity of a brand is integral in being able to reach people. A logo is often the first touchpoint, so making sure it connects with and is attractive to the viewer is of the upmost importance.

In this section, the final logo, a unique alteration of PP Rader Bold, is displayed alongside the bright and punchy colour palette, and utilitarian typography system.

apparel

A vital part of any modern skatewear brand is the apparel, and the logo as the centre piece of a tee or hoodie is a perfect foundational product to showcase.

In this section, there are mockups of tees and hoodies, utilising the bold colour palette and unique wordmark. Additionally, there is a unique application of the logo in the ‘Grand Opening’ Promo design, utilising a metal texture to tie into the logo’s grind rail look; and a physical prototype of the ‘Box Misprint’ tee.

collateral – call to action

The brand will only go as far as it’s messaging and aesthetic appeal will take it. To demonstrate this, and utilise the brand identity shown above, an A4 magazine double spread was created.

Focusing on the message that ‘Radical is subjective’, the spread encourages the viewer to take the first step and have a go at whatever it is they deem as Radical.

“Because what good ever came from not trying?”
