URBN FNTSY (read: Urban Fantasy) brings a creative twist to the traditional comic book, breathing life into the story and characters through AR-enhanced interaction and additional story-related merchandise designed to visually establish the world, the characters, and the tone of the pilot comic.
By incorporating the sinuous and organic nature of Art Nouveau in relation to “fantasy” and the gritty and rebellious elements of Graffiti Art that tie it to “urban”, the aesthetics combine to evoke the sense of the urban fantasy genre that inspired the comic's stylistic design.
These design choices are reinforced by the merchandise developed for promotional efforts -- particularly in the creation of a clear acrylic skateboard etched with character art in the style of Art Nouveau's most famous artists.
In terms of the story's narrative, URBN FNTSY follows Luca, a skater with a penchant for audacious manoeuvres that often land them in trouble, as they find themself at 'The Dragon Rail'. This "Dragon Rail" turns out to be a cursed dragon, and it is Luca's mission to despell all the Graffiti'd curses that were keeping the colossal dragon down.
