Odyssey Theatre

Odyssey Theatre is a new cinema that aims to cultivate an inclusive community bound by their love of film. We aim to provide digital and physical touchpoints that encourage exploration by new cinephiles on the beginning of their film odyssey while prioritising customer loyalty and satisfaction through genuine and personable merchandising.

Independent and Arthouse films create a small pocket of space where the outcasts are acknowledged and are free to be themselves – a space in which this project aims to cultivate through Odyssey Theatre.

For meaningful merchandising, each product closely references and relates to the film its promoting.

Exclusive dvd collection

To cater to the rise of physical media collectors, Odyssey Theatre will release exclusive DVD’s and Blu-Rays for films screened at their cinema. For this month’s collection, it will feature a variety of movies that centre around the themes of longing and separation. An example of a DVD packaging and inclusions for this theme was created for the film Moonlit Winter (2018) a story that follows two women who are linked by a series of letters – some sent and some never sent. The packaging design is inspired by an envelope. For better protection and quality, it is enclosed by a plastic casing that offers additional information regarding the film and the DVD attributes.

Inclusions include an Art print, postage stamps, postcards and a new DVD design.

Tickets

This month at Odyssey Theatre, a selection of movies under the collection “Healing With Food” will be screened. These films include: Sweet Bean (2015), Little Big Women (2020), Eat Drink Man Woman (1994), Tampopo (1985) and Little Forest (2018). Alongside the regular digital and physical tickets, collectible tickets were developed as well.

Collectible Tickets

For this themed collection, the collectible ticket features illustrations of the food that directly relates to the film watched. To encourage film exploration, each collectible ticket is integrated with an NFC tag that the patron can scan to recieve film recommendations that are similar to the film watched. For further information, the patron can access an exclusive Letterboxd List with information written by staff members on why the film was recommended. The NFC Website can be viewed below.
